I’ve been on both sides of this. I ran a gifting company 20 years ago. We were good at it. But I didn’t really understand what employees needed because I hadn’t spent enough time being one.
Then I spent two decades working inside companies of every size (mid-sized startups, a 65,000-person agency, a small political tech company). I bought recognition gifts out of my own pocket because no one else was doing it. And I waited, more than once, to feel that same effort coming back my way.
It mostly didn’t.
I know what it feels like to be the employee everyone assumes is fine. I built Joyalty for that person.
